How to choose your practice fans? What practice fan is best for me?

Welcome to the Fan army!! It comes down to the style of spinning you wish to achieve and personal preference of grip.  Fan Right Meow offers Russian and American style practice fans!

How do I find my correct grip size for Russian Flow Fans (large rings)?

  • Large ring (aka Russian Grip) – this type of grip handle allows your entire palm to be placed inside the ring.  This type of handle is more convenient for poi-like techniques (giving you the support your wrist needs to execute weaves).  The handle also allows you to do tech (geometric) moves.
  • Choose the width of the ring based (grip of fan) on the formula <palm width> + 1 cm. The most universal palm width is 3.5″.
  • How to choose the size of practice fans – choose the length of the practice fans based on your height / arm length. The length from the center of rotation (center of the ring) to the tip of the fan should not exceed the length of your forearm.

How do I find my correct grip size for American practice fans or tech-fans (smaller rings)?

Our 1.5-inch grip diameter allows fitting two fingers inside and two fingers outside the grip for a secure, natural feel. Our 1.75-inch ring allows users with slender fingers to use 3 fingers comfortably, or those with larger fingers 2 fingers in and 2 out. If you have larger hands or thicker fingers, our 2-inch grip diameter offers the same two-finger grip with a little extra room for added comfort.

Ultimately, the best flow fan grip size comes down to personal preference, hand size, and the feel you want while flowing. Whether you’re a beginner or an experienced flow artist, we’re here to help you find the perfect pair of flow fans for your style.
